Mayor
Ilknur Kazim was born in 1977. She holds two bachelor’s degrees — one in Bulgarian and Turkish, and another in Physical Education. She earned her master’s degree in Accounting and Control from the University of National and World Economy in Sofia.
From 1998 to 2008, she worked as a Turkish language teacher in Momchilgrad. Between 2008 and 2013, she continued her teaching career in the same municipality. Later, she served as Director of the Labor Bureau Directorate in Momchilgrad.
In the 2019 local elections, she was elected in the first round as Mayor of Momchilgrad Municipality, representing the Movement for Rights and Freedoms (MRF). Four years later, she won a second consecutive term as mayor with nearly 88 percent of the vote. Ilknur Kyazim also served three consecutive terms as a municipal councilor from 2007 to 2019. She was the Chairwoman of the Women’s Association of the Movement for Rights and Freedoms (MRF) in Momchilgrad.
She is married and has two children.
